AHEAD Quest
Welcome to our Holocaust Education Curriculum, inspired by the powerful words of President Bill Clinton. This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the Holocaust, its impact on the 20th century, and the importance of combating bigotry and discrimination in our world today.
By the end of this curriculum, students will:
Understand the Holocaust: Gain a deep knowledge of the planned, government-sponsored persecution and attempted annihilation of Jews and other groups by the Nazi regime between 1933 and 1945.
Recognize the Role of Society: Learn how one of the most civilized nations of its time could fall to unleash such cruelty, emphasizing the dangers of ignoring and destroying communities through bigotry and discrimination.
Identify Key Terms: Clearly define and understand concepts such as bigotry, discrimination, stereotyping, and the role of bystanders.
Reflect on the Consequences: Comprehend the profound impact of the Holocaust, which resulted in the murder of approximately six million Jews and five million others, including a multitude of religious leaders and political activists.
Promote Diversity and Humanity: Appreciate the importance of diversity and the need to respect everyone regardless of their race, gender, or religion.
Encourage Active Participation: Recognize the importance of not being bystanders and the power of speaking up against bullying, bigotry, and discrimination.
This curriculum aims to preserve the memory of the Holocaust, understand its causes and consequences, and inspire a commitment to human rights and dignity. Together, we can ensure that the lessons of the Holocaust are never forgotten and that we work tirelessly to prevent such atrocities from happening again.
